Home Learning

Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception)
Parents are encouraged to hear their children read at home. The reading diary is taken home and is used as a two-way communication between the teacher and parents about the progress of an individual child. Home Learning ideas are also sent home every Friday via Tapestry.

Key Stage 1 (Year One and Year Two)
Parents are encouraged to hear their children read at home. The reading diary is taken home and is used as a two-way communication between the teacher and parents about the progress of an individual child.

Maths and English home learning is set for all children and more information is contained in the class newsletter sent out at the beginning of each term.

Key Stage 2  (Years Three to Six)
Each child has a Home Learning Book and set home learning is taken home once a week. All home learning is practise/reinforcement of skills/concepts learnt during the week or preparation work ready for forthcoming lessons. It will be set at the level the children are working at within their class ability groups or year groups.  Some home learning is handwritten and some is online learning.

Home learning should take between 20-30 minutes per piece.

Reading at home is encouraged and in addition, children throughout the school can borrow books from the library or fortnightly from the visiting library van.
